About Us

Our Mission – To promote permaculture in the redwood bioregion.

Permaculture provides an accessible and empowering framework for individual and cultural change in the face of environmental challenges. Our focus is on resiliency, adaptation, basic needs fulfillment (food, water, shelter, community), natural patterns/systems/relationships, and providing models for others to follow.

About Us –
The Humboldt Permaculture Guild (HPG) is a group of food producers, business owners, builders, educators, and permaculture designers. We all share a belief in resilient communities, regenerative lifestyles, educating the community, stewardship of natural systems, local seed development, natural building, conservative water, and energy use.

The Humboldt Permaculture Guild aims to provide platforms for networking. To foster social gatherings and events. To develop and maintain a flexible and productive Guild structure, collaborate with complementary groups, assist in designing and implementing permaculture initiatives, and especially educate and mobilize the community to these ends.

  1. The Rio Dell Community Garden is in competition to win a donated fruit tree orchard, but we need your help! Vote for Humboldt County and the Rio Dell Community Garden online at http://www.communitiestakeroot.com beginning April 15th.

Residents of the U.S. can vote once a day per email address, so vote often! The competition is still, with 125 applicants and only 20 orchards being donated. Help to create healthiest communities here on the north coast, and vote for the Rio Dell Community Garden!

  2. the competition is actually stiff…not still 🙂

And all the food items harvested will go to support our local food pantry, which serves approx. 120 households.

  4. Does anyone know how to make an earthen floor for our yurt bathroom? Would you consider helping us do it if we hired you to consult with?

    1. Hi Tracy,
Sorry for the slow response. We don’t check our web page very often. To answer your question. Yes there are quite a few natural builders in our group.
Our Humboldt permaculture Facebook page might be a good way to connect with local folks that do natural building. Also we post our monthly meeting and potlucks on our face book page and send out a monthly e-mail. These can also be a great way to connect with people. Good luck with your project.
